Message from the CEO

All things impacting our society have their genesis in the family. For 47 years Family Violence Prevention Services, Inc. has had the incredible and rewarding responsibility to serve families and coordinate with our community the delivery of life changing services to adults and children that are victims of abuse.

Our mission is to break the cycle of violence and to strengthen families by providing the necessary tools for self-sufficiency through delivery of emergency shelter, transitional housing, effective parenting education, and specialized intervention with youth and the elderly.

We are entrusted to provide the tools to mend their bodies and restore their dignity, their hope, and possibilities to attain self-sufficiency without abuse. That includes reaching out to all sectors in our community, to share our knowledge and experience, so we may enlist them in addressing the intolerable increasing incidence of domestic violence. Some of our most important work has been done with children. It is with children that we have the best chance to address the generational nature of domestic violence. At the same time, we remain sharply focused in the provision of services that challenge the abusive attitudes of perpetrators, in cooperation with the justice system.

I want to extend my sincerest appreciation to those who take an interest in our mission. Domestic violence is for all of us to address and resolve and together we can do it…because “It matters to all!”

Sincerely,

MARTA PRADA PELÁEZ
